Herongate CC v Stanford le Hope CC

Herongate 149 all out - Luthra 81 Palmer 37 / Poulton 7 for 5

Stanford 152 for 6 - Gray 30 Drain 25 Poulton 35 Not Out

Stanford took a young(ish) side for their regular first friendly match on the subutteo sized pitch at Herongate

Acting Captain Mark Knight won the toss and inserted the opposition on a greenish wicket looking to make early inroads however this plan seemed to have backfired when the ever aggressive Manesh Luthra deposited the attack to various parts of the county reaching his 50 in 8 overs ! after the returning Kevin Smith removed his opening partner,Luthra was joined by Palmer who continued the onslaught to bring the home team onto 120 for 1 after 15 overs.

Knight then decided to bring Ross Poulton into the attack to slow the run rate down who ignored his captains wishes by taking wickets instead, he removed the dangerous Luthra for 81 and proceeded to take a further six wickets averaging two per over finishing with astonishing figures of 5 overs 3 maidens 7 wickets for 5 runs
Apart from Palmer 37 and Dixon 13 not out the home team offered little resistance and collapsed to 149 all out in 25 overs.

In reply Stanford's openers Michael Gray(30) and Matt Higgins(7) set about their task, after Higgins departure James Drain (25) came to the crease and with a few alarms took Stanford into the 90's until four wickets fell to have the visitors on 112 for 6.
Enter Poulton who had been dropped down the order as punishment for ignoring his captain whilst bowling hitting a rapid 35 not out and along with Marvin Hagler 11 not out saw the visitors home with 10 overs to spare.

Worthy footnote that Knight with 3 stumpings offered to buy a jug whereas Poulton didnt.
