Match Week Nine
Stanford won the toss in this top of the table encounter and decided to bat and take advantage of the lightning outfield on offer. However this was not to be the case as with some accurate bowling and decisions going against the Stanford batsmen we slumped to 41-6. Ross Poulton and Matthew Page combined and staved off the Benfleet attack until Page became the 4th LBW victim of the innings. Stanford eventually crawled to a paltry 138 all out. Benfleets reply was checked early on when Harry Maher bowled opener Andrew Jenkins for 5 but from then on it was pretty much one way traffic as Paul Tremain and Phil Wright tucked into some wayward bowling. They both fell the ever improving Matthew Higgins (3-26) but it was in vain as Benfleet knocked off the runs for the loss of six wickets and thoroughly deserved their victory.
