Sunday Friendly

Enfield CC v Stanford le Hope CC

Stanford 198-4 Enfield 122ao

Stanfords sunday friendly away at Enfield was reduced to 35 overs a side due to the weather delaying the start by 30mins.
Upon winning the toss skipper Lee Knight decided to bat and it soon proved to be a good decision as openers Sean Barker (39) and Aussie Nathan Shearer (96) made a good start to the innings putting on a partnership of101 for the 1st wicket whilst also negotiating the tight bowling of Bridges (1-22) and Jackson (0-24)
After Barker departed it was saturday 1st team skipper Michael Gray (32) who kept the momentum going adding 58 for the 2nd wicket. when Shearer fell with 4 overs to spare (having narrowly missed out on his maiden century for the club) gray quickly followed as Stanford looked to boost their total, Ross Poulton (7no) and Kevin Smith (16) brought the innings to a close with a combination of good running and big hitting which took the score to 198-4 at tea.

After the interval opening bowlers Daryl Woodford (1-13) and Ben Tarten (2-3) set about their task well bowling a good line and length which frustrated the Enfield batsmen as well as stopped them from scoring this seemed to work in Stanfords favour as both Ian Sanderson (1-18) and Colin Knight (1-15) picked up quick wickets which soon left the hosts struggling at 40-5 Tilley (32) and Bridges (20) batted well and moved the total towards respectability until a suicidal run out and the part time spin of Lee Knight (1-20) Kevin Smith (2-20) and Nathan Shearer(1-8) finished things off.

Stanford won by 76 runs
