XI at home to Ongar Stanford 157-9 (52 overs)
Ongar 155-9 (47 overs) On a slow track, with an
even slower outfield, Stanford were grateful to post something over the 150
mark. That they did so, was mainly due to the efforts of opener Peter Gray (70),
who battled away for most of the innings. He shared the only significant
partnership of the match as he and Ross Poulton (39) added 91 for the 4th
wicket. Stanford were rocked early on by seamer Blake Hall (5-36) who snapped up
three quick wickets and then proceeded to complete a marathon spell of 26 overs.
At the end, Stanford were indebted to last man Greg Barr, who clouted 14 from
the last over, to clinch a couple more batting points. Ongar’s reply was also a
scrappy affair. Barr (3-50) and fellow opener Kevin Smith (2-44) accounted for
the first 5 wickets in their long opening spells. The Ongar middle order were
shuffling the score along and skipper Michael Gray turned to his left arm spin
duo of Ross Poulton and Bill Poskitt Jnr as the last hour began. Poulton picked
up four wickets as the score crept towards Stanford’s total. In a tense and
fractious finish, Ongar required 6 for the win as Poskitt bowled the last over
with one wicket required. Ongar would not be tempted to go for the win and a
draw was the final result. Stanford 8 points

XI at Ongar Stanford II
101ao (45 overs)
Ongar II 102-4 Stanford opener Mark Knight
(20no) received a blow above his eye early on in his innings and was forced to
retire. He bravely returned as the 9th wicket fell and helped young
Ian Sanderson (25), boost the total beyond the 100 mark. In-between, he was
forced to watch something of a procession as the visiting batsmen fell victim to
Peter Ellis (7-44) and Mike Robinson (3-15). The only other double figure score
came from skipper Dean Hitchcock. Ongar made light of the run
chase, despite the early loss of a couple of wickets. A half-century partnership
between Bagga (38) and Sims (21), took them most of the way there and although
they both fell to U16 Adam Knight, the win was a formality. Stanford II

XI at home to Hornchurch IV Stanford III 91ao (38.5
overs)
Hornchurch IV 92-0 (16 overs) Hornchurch showed why they
are favourites to lift the 4th XI Premiership title with this
powerful display. Their four bowlers shared the wickets as Stanford were shot
out for a paltry 91. Only three players made double figures, with youngster
Harry Cook (17) top-scoring. Stanford’s bowling was
despatched to all parts by AJ Duplooy (67no). He and fellow opener Sorrell(22)
ensured the visitors galloped to victory in only 16 overs. Stanford

186-5 (52 overs)
Stanford IV 29ao (17.3 overs) Leigh opener Phil Morgan
(80no), anchored the innings as he guided his side to a 52 over total of 186.
Stanford skipper Colin Knight (2-30) returned the best figures as he saw his
young team battle well in the field. It all turned to dust for
the visitors as their turn came to bat. No-one managed double figures as
Stanford were shot out for a meagre 29 in only 17.3 overs. Tim Boughtwood (4-7)
was the most successful Leigh bowler. Stanford IV

of the season on sunday in the local derby against pegasus, having been inserted
on what was an unusually indifferent pegasus pitch with variable pace and bounce
stanford struggled early on mainly due to the accurate bowling of patmore (3-7)
only Greg Barr (29) made a significant contribution from the top order as he
adopted the aggressive approach but once he fell stanford found themselves 65-6
at drinks and in trouble of being dismissed cheaply.
